Andrea Zimmer lives in Kincardine where she facilitates childrens art activities at local festivals and workshops. Her colourful, cheerful paintings filled with smiling faces evoke happy memories while her rustic mixed media works are two dimensional characters assembled from metal tins, vintage buttons and found objects.
Graduating from Emily Carr College of Art & Design in 1991, she joined in community festivals, learning to create and perform with puppets and stilt walking characters.
Designing and making realistic animal puppets, her clients include Vancouver Public Aquarium, Fraser River Discovery Centre and Kincardine Community Living’s Lighthouse Players.
A recent recipient of an Ontario Arts Council grant has allowed Andrea to work with 4 different classrooms this past year, teaching students how to build puppets based on local wildlife.
Andrea will be showing at her family childhood home in Dashwood. (Zimmer’s TV & Radio)
