Derek Culbard

Derek grew up in Glasgow Scotland, surrounded by the beauty and inspiration of the ocean, and miles of untouched highland landscape. It was at a very early age with this introduction to nature that he realized drawing and painting would be a major part of his life in the years to follow. Derek began sketching anything from sports figures to the magnificence of nature. Articulating his ideas clarified his direction and led him to devote increasing attention and energy to develop his own unique works.

“I very quickly realized that the power of design with large shapes and simple forms achieve a unified composition with unlimited visual power.”

Derek honed his technique learning from teachers of Visual Arts at The Gallery On The Lake, Buckhorn, and Springbank Art Centre, Mississauga. He is also known to frequent many upscale galleries such as The Art Galleries in Glasgow Scotland, and The Art Gallery of Ontario.

“Light, colour and shadows often used as composition to provide shape all add up to create “the mood” in my paintings which i firmly believe will bring the same satisfaction to the viewer as it does to yours truly.”

In addition to numerous solo and group exhibitions in public shows and commercial galleries, Derek participates in selected Fine Art festivals throughout Ontario. His work is included in collections, both public and private throughout Canada and abroad. You can catch up with Derek in his personal studio gallery in Grand Bend.

Jack Winn

Jack Winn has been painting and sculpting for twenty years. His paintings are in numerous private collections and for sale in many galleries. Jack has installed a millennium sculpture located in the River Road parkette in Grand Bend.

“Influenced by Tom Thomson, as well as the post-impressionists, Winn though not slavishly so, looks particularly to his Canadian predecessors for inspiration, seeing himself as working within the same artistic continuum. But it is his own personal relationship with the Canadian landscape, and his interpretation of the beauty and clarity of the land, that defines and characterizes his work.” Scene Magazine ’96

Jack was a professor of music at the University of Western Ontario for sixteen years. He is currently the Principal Double Bass player for Orchestra London, Canada. Professor Winn has played frequently with the Toronto Symphony, and sat as principal bass in The Hamilton, Kitchener, Edmonton, Clarion and Windsor Symphonies.
