Born and raised in New Zealand, Brian commenced painting very young, entering and winning some Junior National paint contests. He stopped painting at about 10-years old to spend time playing rugby and cricket.

Brian left New Zealand in 1966 to visit England. During his time in England, he started painting again, concentrating on old buildings, churches, etc. He had commission painting assignments for very old homes (the oldest was 14th Century). His last painting completed in England was 1970.

Brian arrived in Canada in 1978 and lived in Alberta, Manitoba and finally in Port Franks, Ontario where he commenced painting again after 40 years.
