I am inspired by colour and my passion is design!
As a child I was impressed to find subtle works of art hidden between the pages of my Dad’s construction manuals. I was only four when he passed away but I grew to have a sense and a desire to continue with the God given talent that I was blessed with, creating art.
Growing up in the rural Forest, Ont. area meant lots of interesting art opportunities. At St. John Fisher School we had an art teacher come into our class at least once a month. In grade six our class went “downtown” to sit along the sidewalk and look up. We studied architecture. At that moment a spark was ignited in me. I never looked at buildings the same way again! Throughout my high school years at North Lambton I enjoyed four years on the third floor in the art room. I was able to show my work at a gallery openhouse in Sarnia and even paint my own murals on the walls in the high school.
After getting married and having a family, it was time for me to return to the classroom. From London to Sarnia and many, many places inbetween, I am fortunate to have had training in watercolour painting from many excellent local artists namely, Joseph Fetingis, Brian Atteo and Jack Ried. I have also learned the very nessesary principles and elements of design from many international published artists such as Arne Westerman, Frank Webb and Mike Svob at the St. Lawrence school for the arts in Brockville, Ont. I am grateful to these great artists as they have given me much knowledge and cofidence.
In gaining this experience, I have enjoyed success at competitions, teaching , showing, and selling my work. Sharing the love of art continues to give me much pleasure.
Living in a rural setting , I am thrilled to be immersed in our countryside where each season presents new and interesting subject matter to paint. My work is realistic but is always developed to show my own point of view. As the famous painter, Edgar Whitney would say, “You must create a beautiful lie”. With some details lost and others found, I am compelled to let my viewer know how I feel about that subject. I am pleased when I have expressed my exact emotions and I hope that I will evoke those same feelings inside of you.
