Barbara Helen Pickett

About me

A watercolour artist, originally from Northwestern Ontario, and now a new resident here in Grand Bend, Barbara has been painting for over 20 years.  She has taken instruction at the Newmarket School of Fine Art, and Visual Arts Mississauga.  She enjoys painting the beautiful landscapes of Ontario, from Thunder Bay, to Muskoka, and the shores of Lake Huron.  Add to that her love of beautiful architecture, from travels globally, to create a unique portfolio inspired by Mother Nature, and talented architects!  Some of those adventures have included plein air painting in the French Riviera, Quebec City and, recently, in Grand Bend.

She has led numerous watercolour painting workshops, as well as exhibited in juried shows.  She enjoys creating meaningful commission paintings, as well as triptychs, for display in larger spaces.

“I have always been drawn to the magic of watercolour. I love to watch how the paint dances on the paper and how the various values reflect the light and draws you into the painting.  I find the softness, and transparency, of this medium inviting, and perfect to capture the beautiful colours of Lake Huron sunsets.”

You can contact Barbara at to source an original watercolour, a wearable art piece (kimono or scarf), Grand Bend themed cushions, and greeting cards.

“I invite you to take a walk with me into a “World of Watercolour” and find a scene that makes you smile.”
